The year is flying by already. Can you believe it’s time to plan ahead for March? March National Days. Whether your business is online or a brick and mortar there are ways you can celebrate and honor different national days, weeks or months to promote your business, encourage your team and help others!
National Days Marketing Ideas

March 2nd

  • National Banana Cream Pie Day – If you have a bakery you’ve been training your whole life for this. Break out your favorite recipe and run a special on Banana Cream Pies!
  • National Read Across America Day – Also known as Dr. Seuss Day kids will be dressing up at school and reading with their classmates. If you have a custom business this is an opportunity to make t-shirts, reading pillows, bookmarks and more to celebrate reading!

March 4th

  • National Grammar Day – Admittedly, when I read a book I always notice typos (grammar and punctuation), but I know I make mistakes too. Today is a good day to proofread your website and collateral to make sure it’s error free.
  • National Sons Day – So many businesses focus on mommy/daughter and daddy/daughter events. What can you offer to mothers/sons and fathers/sons this day?

March 6th

  • National Dentist’s Day – Do you have a special dentist that you visit regularly and doesn’t make you a bundle of nerves? Are you a dentist or work in a dentist’s office? What can you do today to make your patients feel even better?
  • National Employee Appreciation Day – A little thanks goes a long way. Show your employees you care with a note of thanks, create a culture of encouragement in the work place, praise achievements, be flexible (when possible), pull your team together for a celebration of a milestone or just because.

March 8th

  • International Women’s Day – On this day we celebrate the cultural, political, social and economic achievements of women. It also brings awareness to gender parity. If you employ both men and women make sure you are paying your men and women based on knowledge, experience and education – not gender.
  • Daylight Saving Time – Mark the calendar to change your clocks (even if you hate it as much as I do). #DaylightSavingTime #SpringForward

March 9th

  • National Get Over It Day – This is the day that you let the trivial things weighing on your mind…GO! Decide that today is the day you will not let the little things drag you down. #NationalGetOverItDay
  • National Napping Day (Day After Daylight Saving Time) – If you have the flexibility to do so, offer your employees a few minute siesta to rest their mind and their eyes. Studies show that a short 10-20 minute nap are most effective when the midday slump hits.

March 12th

  • National Plant a Flower Day – How fun would it be to offer seedlings or small flower pots to your customers? Plant some flowers and make the world a more beautiful place! #PlantAFlowerDay
  • World Kidney Day – Spread some cheer by grabbing your team to volunteer and support those receiving dialysis.

March 13th

  • National Good Samaritan Day – Celebrate those who have unselfishly helped those in need or make an effort to help someone who is struggling. #GoodSamaritanDay
  • National K9 Veterans Day – Honor military and working dogs for their service and sacrifice. Consider donating to American Humane to provide military dogs with a dignified retirement or to give a veteran a trained service dog.

March 14th

  • National Children’s Craft Day – With so many schools taking art, home ec, and other important classes out of the cirriculum – this is an opportunity for you to work with kids to get their creative juices flowing. Share some tips & tricks or host a craft day for kids! #ChildrensCraftDay
  • National Write Down Your Story Day – Have you been wanting to share your story but weren’t sure where to start? If you need some direction, The Write Life has an article with helpful tips to get pen to paper.

March 17th

  • St. Patrick’s Day – T-shirts, green beer, shamrocks and more. This is your chance to capitalize on all things green. Promote your custom items so everyone is Irish this St. Patty’s Day!

March 18th

  • National SBDC Day – I can’t say enough good things about the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the resources they offer for small business owners. If you own a small business you should be working with a counselor/mentor at your local SBDC. They offer free resources as well as paid classes and conferences to help you start and build a business. #SBDCDay

March 19th

  • National Let’s Laugh Day – What is life without laughter? I try to make it a point to laugh as much as possible every single day. Owning a business can be a daunting task – lighten the mood and find a reason to laugh today!
  • Spring – Let’s celebrate spring! It’s time for spring cleaning, sports, and sales. If it’s been sitting in your shop for a while – it’s time to put it on sale and make room for new items.

March 20th

  • National Common Courtesy Day – Today is the day you should be saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ – though you should practice this all year long. A little courtesy goes a long way in making someone’s day.
  • National Quilting Day (third Saturday in March) – Celebrate the decades old tradition of handmade quilts by attending a quilting class, visiting a quilt show or museum. If you are local to Atlanta, Fabricate Studios offers a variety of wonderful quilting classes taught by a very talented instructor. #NationalQuiltingDay

March 29th

  • National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day  – This day honors small business owners. Do your part to support privately owned small businesses by shopping at their stores and engaging them for their services. #MomPopBusinessOwnersDay

March 30th

  • National Pencil Day – On behalf of your business today would be a great day to donate pencils to your local schools. There are many children who cannot afford the basic necessities needed to do their school work. #NationalPencilDay

March 31st

  • National Crayon Day – There is nothing like a fresh box of crayons. The smell is distinctive and instantly takes you back to your childhood. Children and adults of all ages can enjoy a nice relaxing day of coloring. Today you can find a variety of coloring books available.
